From the farm and orchard to the lab and classroom, our land-grant mission comes to life through strong agricultural partnerships. Growers and industry leaders help shape WSU research priorities, participate alongside us in discovery and innovation, and ensure that our teaching and curriculum remain relevant to the needs and opportunities of agriculture.
This fall, CAHNRS will celebrate the amazing potential of Washington agriculture and the partnerships that make our work possible during two home football weekends in Pullman.
First up is the return of Harvest Market. Held on two consecutive Fridays, Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, at Mooberry Track and Field on the Pullman campus, Harvest Market will showcase WSU-made and student-created foods, fruit, and products in partnership with the WSU Athletics Performance Nutrition program.
The Sept. 25 market will feature the return of the 80-foot Cosmic Crisp® hot air balloon, a striking symbol of Washington agriculture, WSU innovation, and the impact of ideas that take flight through partnership.
The second event, the Ag Innovation Harvest Market on Oct. 2, will launch a weekend celebrating the many ways our university is advancing innovation for Washington agriculture.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, WSU’s first Ag Innovation Day comes to Pullman. A campus tractor parade and FFA cookout will celebrate the multi-generational connections that unite WSU with growers, farm families, agricultural businesses, and communities across our state.
Participants in the Ag Innovation Market include the Washington Tree Fruit Research Commission, Washington Potato Commission, Washington State Fruit Commission, USA Pears, Washington Grain Commission, Dairy West, AgWest Farm Credit Services, Fay Ranches, and Adams Tractor.
We invite our friends, alumni, partners, and the entire Cougar community to join us for these three special celebrations of agriculture, innovation, and partnership.
Events such as these provide a special moment to celebrate, while our commitment to Washington’s agricultural producers continues every day of the year. Across the state, WSU scientists and students are working alongside our partners to address some of the greatest challenges and opportunities facing the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of Northwest agriculture. This is our land-grant mission in action, and it is a commitment we carry forward together.
This fall, we are proud to celebrate the amazing things CAHNRS can accomplish hand-in-hand with the people and partners who make Washington agriculture stronger.
