PULLMAN, Wash. – A seven-state program aimed at reducing poverty by working directly with residents of small, rural communities, including the program led by Washington State University Extension, is the latest recipient of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s Partnership Award for Multistate Efforts.
PULLMAN, Wash. – Building on the successes of two of its “poverty to prosperity” projects, Washington State University Extension has been awarded two new grants totaling $100,000 to help eastern Washington residents – especially Latinos and young people –build their economic assets.
SPOKANE, Wash. — Identifying and taking advantage of resources to help rural communities throughout the state pursue local economic development will be the focus of the Rural Washington Conference 2011. The theme for the two-day event is “Pathways to Prosperity.”

Thanks to federal stimulus funding, the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Commerce are investing $7.2 billion to bring high-speed Internet access to unserved rural communities. WSU Extension is building partnerships in a broadband project in south central Washington that could be the model for other rural communities.
