Forest landowners in eastern Washington can learn how to enhance and benefit from their properties in the upcoming Forest Owners Winter School.

Held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at Colville, Washington, this hands-on event teaches practical, “how-to” advice on simple stewardship practices. Experts cover forest health, pests, and diseases; wildlife and habitat enhancement; forest improvements; what to expect in a wildfire; successful reforestation; timber-selling realities, and more.

“From first-time owners to seasoned land managers, there is always something more to discover about our local woodlands,” said Joshua Cardin, WSU Forestry Extension Program Coordinator. “Winter School is designed to provide everyone with the latest tools and knowledge to better manage their forests.”

Participants will be able to talk with agency and natural resource professionals, meet other landowners, see equipment displays, and answer forestry questions.

Cost is $30 per person, $40 per family. Gates open at 8 a.m.; the event is held at the Spokane Community College location, 985 S. Elm Street, Colville. Register online via Eventbrite.
