CAHNRS Talk Tuesday: Bridgette Bacon

Each week, we showcase one of our CAHNRS Ambassadors, a student leadership organization that encourages students to pursue higher education and serves as a liaison between the college and the greater community. This week, we’re featuring Bridgette Bacon, a junior from Eureka, Nevada.

What are you studying?

I’m majoring in Apparel Merchandising.

Favorite Show/Movie:

New Girl

Favorite Cougar Tradition:

My favorite Cougar tradition is when the whole stadium sings “Back Home” by Andy Grammer together during Cougar Football games! It is a very powerful moment that showcases the unity of the Cougar family regardless of any and all differences. From future Cougs, to current students, to incredible alumni, everyone is a part of this voice. It reminds me that no matter where I go in life, I will always have fellow Cougs there for me with support and inspiration.

Favorite CAHNRS Commodity:

Tin Lizzy Ferdinand’s ice cream grabbers are my favorite CAHNRS commodity. There’s nothing better than unwrapping these delectable ice cream sandwiches after a long day. Even on the coldest days in the dead of winter, nothing beats one of these grabbers. Ferdinand’s ice cream is hands down the best ice cream produced in the U.S.!

Why be a CAHNRS Coug?

Without CAHNRS I wouldn’t be able to be pursuing my dream of working in the fashion industry. The Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design, and Textiles has not only provided me with all the necessary skills and tools that I will need to be successful in such a highly competitive industry, but has also given me incredible memories, friends, and opportunities. I wouldn’t trade one minute that I spent in CAHNRS. Every day I get to learn about the one thing I am most passionate about and am supported by faculty who really care about my learning and success here at WSU.

Best Student Experience:

My overall best student experience here at WSU is every day. That sounds cheesy, but it is true. People roll their eyes when they hear that people love everyday they get to spend on the WAZZU campus, but every day I get to be here is a dream come true. I get to learn about what I love and am surrounded by all the people I love every day, which is all I could ever ask for! Since I enjoy every waking moment as Coug, I could never choose one experience over another!

CAHNRS Taught Me:

Being a CAHNRS Coug has given me the opportunity to work closely with AMDT’s staff. Due to the smaller class sizes in my program, I have been able to build working relationships with my professors. This allows me to better understand content and has given me a sense of belonging and desire to always put my best foot forward. Even as a Junior, I already feel prepared and confident about going out and working in the Apparel Industry with the incredible amount of knowledge that I have learned. From my new-found skills in Adobe programs to the in-depth textile science knowledge, I know that I am prepared for my future, thanks to the connections I’ve made with my professors. In and out of the classroom, my professors have constantly supported me and pushed me to do my very best. My CAHNRS experience wouldn’t be the same without them.
