I’m Susie Craig. Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute. Did you know the Washington State Department of Health recently established a new Foodborne Illness Notification System called FINS? FINS allows consumers to report foodborne illness and food safety complaints from restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores, foodbanks, and catered events in Washington State. Available in English and Spanish. Search for “Food Safety and Foodborne Illness Complaint Form.” It’s easy to use. Submit your concern through the website. FINS automatically sends your concern to the appropriate local health authority. Your report is reviewed. Your local health department determines if further action is needed. Using this online system helps identify outbreaks more quickly and the spread of illness to others. If you’re experiencing foodborne illness, call your medical provider. From Washington State University Extension, this is Food Safety in a Minute.
