Episode Transcription

Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute, I’m Susie Craig.

The FDA, CDC, and state and local public health authorities are currently investigating a multistate outbreak of E. coli 0157:H7. RAW FARM, LLC, based in Fresno, California, has started a voluntary recall of their Original Flavor Cheddar and Jalapeno Flavor in all block and shredded sizes. Both products have nationwide distribution to grocery stores and foodservice operations. Check your refrigerator and freezer for these items, discard or return to store. Do not consume or serve. The FDA advises thorough cleaning and sanitization of any surfaces or containers that may have had contact with these products to prevent cross-contamination. Even minimal exposure to this bacterium can result in serious illness.

Thanks for listening to Food Safety in a Minute from Washington State University Extension.
