I’m Susie Criag for Food Safety in a Minute

Forty-nine million Americans face hunger every day. With inflation, there’s even more food insecurity this year. Consider giving back locally over the holidays. Look online for your local foodbank, including their food safety guidelines for donated items. Here are ways you and your family can make a difference this year:

  • Donate your time, volunteer.
  • Organize a neighborhood holiday food drive.
  • Make a financial donation. According to Feeding America, they turn every dollar
you donate into ten meals. They accomplish this by working with food
    manufacturers, retailers, volunteers, and funding.
  • Donate shelf stable foods: Peanut butter, canned soup or stew, canned fruits and
vegetables, canned fish, pasta, cereal, cooking oil, pancake mix, snacks, and rice.
