Freezing is a great way to preserve fruits and vegetables, save with bulk purchases, make entrees ahead to save time, and take advantage of sales. Did you know a full freezer is energy efficient? Refilling your freezer several times a year saves on annual energy costs.

Label everything going into your freezer with the food and date. Keep an up-to-date freezer inventory. You can purchase inventory sheets or easily make your own. Attach the sheet along with a pen to your freezer to keep things easy. You’ll know what you have and what you’ve used. Keep your freezer temperature at 0 degrees F or lower, checked with a freezer thermometer. Group foods together inside your freezer and rotate
using longest frozen first.
