Episode Transcription

Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute.

Do you know about the recalls of frozen organic strawberries in the northwest? This could affect frozen strawberries purchased from PCC Community Markets, Trader Joes, Costco, and other grocers. Though the reported Hepatitis A cases are low, the manufacturer, Scenic Fruit Company instituted a voluntary recall and have stopped manufacturing these products. The recalled frozen strawberries and a frozen tropical blend range from one-pound bags to four-pound bags with “best by” dates from May to November 2024.

Check the Washington State Department of Health website for a full list of products with lot numbers and “best by” dates. Next, check your freezer. Do not eat the product, destroy it, or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

From Washington State University Extension, this is Susie Craig, thanks for listening.
