Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute from Washington State University Extension.

Do you have food delivered directly to your home? From the farm to our table, our food system has had many new business models emerge during Covid – including home food delivery. Consider how changes in food e-commerce may lead to food safety problems for consumers. Today, more and more consumers shop for meals and groceries online. The Food and Drug Administration’s new Blueprint for Food Safety looks at the best ways to ensure food safety as new business models evolve. For instance, food delivery services will be encouraged to use technology that automatically monitors product risk factors such as time, temperature, and traceability information. The FDA will also partner with food delivery companies providing safe food handling education.

I’m Susie Craig, thanks for listening to Food Safety in a Minute.
