From Washington State University Extension, this is Susie Craig.

Have you have ordered restaurant food online during the pandemic? Some of your orders may have been food service operations from ghost kitchens. Ghost kitchens have no dining space or waitstaff. They provide restauranteurs with less expensive food preparation space and an ability to share, rented space with other like-minded entrepreneurs.

Ghost kitchens must meet all county and state health requirements. Like free-standing restaurants, they are inspected, following health department regulations. While consumers can’t see the physical locations, it’s good to read online customer reviews. Many of them include photos of their kitchens. Food delivered to your doorstep, should arrive at temperatures of 140 degrees F or above or at 40 degrees F or below.

This is Susie Craig from Food Safety in a Minute.
