Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute from Washington State University Extension.

COVID-19 has changed the world. This holiday season, there are opportunities for you to positively “change” someone’s world with donations to your local food bank.

Food banks have a commitment to food safety following guidelines set by state and county health departments. For instance, there are specific guidelines for what they can accept. Find your neighborhood food bank online and check out their website. For example, my neighborhood food bank has a list of urgently needed items, instructions and times for drop-offs, and other guidelines related to the pandemic. My local food bank also have established relationships with Albertson’s, Amazon, Costco, Fred Meyer, and Safeway. It’s easy for you to order online and the retailers coordinate with and directly deliver your items to the food bank.
