Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute.

A family outing to a local U-Pick Farm is often a highlight of summer. COVID-19 is not considered a foodborne illness. However, there are changes in U-Pick operations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

If the U-Pick Farm, has a web site, start there. They may have extended hours and limitations on the number of people allowed on the farm at one time. Like farm employees, customers should not harvest if they have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last fourteen days. Practice social distancing. Wear a cloth face mask and practice good hand hygiene throughout your visit. Before leaving home, clean and sanitize containers or re-useable bags you take to the farm.
