4th of July parties may look different this year. If you are inviting friends or extended family to your backyard BBQ, here are important guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • If someone in your household has symptoms or has been exposed to a COVID-19 patient, postpone your get-together. The same goes for anyone coming to your party.
  • Ask everyone to wash their hands when they arrive, before eating, and when they leave.
  • Prepare food and eat outside rather than an enclosed space.
  • Practice social distancing. Maintain six feet between guests. Remember to practice other important food safety principles:
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces
  • Avoid rinsing raw meat or poultry with water.
  • Thaw meats in the refrigerator.
  • Cook meat to safe internal temperatures
