Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute from Washington State University Extension.

What is most important to know about purchasing fresh produce from Farm Stands this summer? There are no reports of COVID-19 being transferred from produce to people.

When shopping at Farm Stands, you will notice changes necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Farm Stand employees wear face coverings and ask you to do the same.
  • Hand sanitizer is placed at the front of the stand and near the cash box. Signs remind you to use sanitizer before shopping, before paying, and when leaving.
  • There will be 6 feet between you and farm employees.
  • And, while shopping, you will be asked not to touch the produce. Remember stay home if you have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19. Farm Stand employees do the same.
