Welcome to Food Safety in a Minute.

Did you know 4-H members exhibiting livestock at fairs follow practices to keep your family safe while visiting and learning about their animals? 4-Hers follow fair Exhibitor Guides developed from the Centers for Disease Control to prevent disease associated with animals in public settings. Their livestock practices at the fair minimize the risk of harmful bacteria moving from their healthy animals to you causing illness.

4-H members at the Clark County Fair in Vancouver, Washington encourage good hand hygiene practices after visiting their animals. Guests were 7 times more likely to use hand sanitizer at barn exits. Using hand sanitizers after visiting livestock exhibits is important, but it does not replace hand washing. Always wash before eating or
drinking at the fair.
