Bee Ideas Fly from WSU to Algeria

Entomologists Steve Sheppard and Brandon Hopkins shared ideas and techniques with North African beekeepers during a collaborative WSU-Borlaug Program visit to Algeria, August 7-10.

In a scientific and technical exchange in Algiers, the two WSU bee researchers met local beekeepers and their bees, and watched a demonstration of honeybee queen insemination. Hopkins, assistant research professor and apiary and laboratory manager of the WSU Apiary Program, led a workshop on cryo-preservation of honey bee germplasm.
