Tree to Honor Class of 2000, WSU President

PULLMAN, Wash. — Members of Washington State University’s student horticulture club and WSU President Sam Smith will plant a Regent Pagoda tree on the slope behind the President’s residence, 755 N.E. Campus St., at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 27.

The tree will honor the class of 2000 and President Smith, who will retire this year after 15 years of service to the university. A tradition of planting a tree honoring the graduating class was begun by the club 15 years ago.

The planting site, located between the residence and Sloan Hall, is near the original entrance to the university.

The public is invited.
