MEDIA ADVISORY: USDA To Announce Biofuels Research Grant at Pullman

PULLMAN, Wash. – Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be on the Pullman campus of Washington State University the morning of Thursday, April 10, to announce the award of a nearly $1 million grant for biofuels research being conducted by WSU Regents Professor Norman G. Lewis.

The media availability will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Building No. 124, the greenhouse across the street from Ferdinand’s Ice Cream Shoppe on South Fairlane Way in Pullman.

The award is part of an $18.4 million investment into biomass research, development and demonstration projects by USDA and the U.S. Department of Energy. The projects that have been funded specifically aim to break down critical barriers to making the production of biomass more efficient and cost effective. Only 21 of the 750 proposals submitted from researchers throughout the United States received funding.
