Loveland to Speak at WSU Field Day

PULLMAN, Wash. – Valoria Loveland, Washington State Department of Agriculture director, will speak at the luncheon during Washington State University’s annual Spillman Agronomy Farm Field Day, Thursday, July 10, 2003.

Loveland will speak on the importance of agriculture.

The half-day program will feature field tours of WSU and USDA Agricultural Research Service cereal and legume research and breeding programs.

Participants will be able to have discussions with research scientists at all field stops.

Prior to her appointment as WSDA director in 2002, Loveland served in many public and private sector positions including eight years as state senator, representing Franklin, Walla Walla, Columbia, Garfield and Asotin counties. While in the senate, she chaired the Ways and Means Committee and vice-chaired the Senate agriculture committee.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Spillman Farm five miles south east of Pullman on Johnson Road.
