Learn to Grow Mushroom at Nov. 19 WSU Extension Workshop

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Join WSU Extension specialist Jim Freed and the experts from Fungi Perfecti for a hands-on shiitake mushroom cultivation workshop Nov. 19, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the WSU Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center in Mount Vernon. The topics covered will include the different species that grow well in our climate and forests along with a discussion of growing media, includingh log, stump, and sawdust culture. There will also be a hands-on demonstrations of log-inoculation techniques.

Whether you want to grow mushrooms for your own use, or explore direct market sales, this class is a great introduction to mushroom cultivation. The cost of the workshop includes a set of plugs to inoculate your own mushroom log. Registration is $60 per person or $85 for two people registering at the same time.
