PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University Impact Center will be holding an online education opportunity for makers of agricultural products and for other small- and medium-sized business interested in expanding their markets through export.
This presentation shares information on Washington exports, and provides information to researchers, entrepreneurs, educators and business professionals with an interest in export. The webinar will be held on Monday, August 20, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and is free, but is limited to the first 100 participants. Dr. YunFei (Eric) Zhao, a research associate at WSU’s School of Economic Sciences, will lead the presentation.

Zhao will review the composition of Washington’s leading export industries from 2005 to 2011, and discuss export activities for large industries such as the aerospace products and components industry, as well as exports for agricultural products such as fruit and vegetable preserves and grain and oilseed milling products.
Zhao will also discuss likely effects of new free trade agreements, and finally discuss Washington State’s Export Assistance Program, a statewide export initiative that supports the growth of Washington state product and service exports. Questions will be taken at the end of the webinar.
The Export Assistance Program at the WSU Impact Center is part of a statewide export initiative sponsored through a grant by Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board, which is administrated by the Washington Department of Commerce. The WSU Impact Center performs research and outreach in association with the Washington Small Business Development Center to assist with agricultural research and the International Trade Alliance to offer export workshops across the state.
