EVERETT, Wash. — WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers are offering two different multi-day trainings with virtual lectures and guided in-person beach walks. Learn from regional experts about our Salish Sea habitats and species, marine conservation efforts, and the ways that to get involved. Training starts April 13.
To register, visit the Snohomish County Beach Watchers website.
Topic expertise is not required, only an interest in Puget Sound issues and a willingness to share the knowledge learned with people at local beaches and events throughout Snohomish County.
Participants receive 80 hours of university-caliber instruction through presentations, field trips, and hands-on practice. Topics include: marine organism identification; water quality conditions; public education techniques; habitat restoration solutions; and much more.
In return, trained Beach Watchers volunteer 80 hours of their time over two years as a citizen scientist, educator, and steward by picking the projects of greatest personal interest.
Anyone interested in protecting the waters and wildlife of Puget Sound can become a Beach Watcher.
