PULLMAN, Wash. – The WSU Eggert Family Organic Farm will host its annual field day Thursday, Aug. 2.
Learn about organic herbicide trials, orchard planning and the Food Safety Modernization Act. There also will be a guided tour of the fruit and vegetable growing areas. The event runs 8 a.m.- noon, and gates open at 7:30 a.m.
A garlic braiding workshop will be offered by Kate Jaeckel starting at 12:30 p.m. at the farm. Bring a sack lunch. The workshop will be limited to 10 participants, tickets sold through the farm’s website (http://css.wsu.edu/organicfarm/) or at the farm.
“We’re excited to share all the work being done by our faculty, staff and students,” said Brad Jaeckel, farm manager. “We’ll talk about the latest research on the three-year organic herbicide trials, updates on the orchard, and have farm infrastructure information.”
The farm is located on Animal Science Rd., off of Terre View Drive, behind the WSU Bear Research, Education and Conservation Center. The entrance is the first farm gate on the left.
The event is free and open to the public.
