Packing Lunches

Do you pack a lunch every day? Here are important tips to keep food safe:

  • Keep everything that touches food clean and sanitary. Cleaning utensils and work surfaces with soapy water protects food from harmful bacteria. Counter tops and work surfaces should be sanitized after cleaning. Using one capful of bleach in one quart of cool water, wipe the surface with the sanitizing solution.
  • Keep the lunch boxes clean and sanitary. If you use a brown bag, always use a clean one. Used paper bags may contain harmful bacteria and contaminate the lunch.
  • Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and warm water. Dry with a paper towel.
