Food Safety on the Internet

Posted by | March 29, 2011

Have you tried finding food safety information on the internet? There’s lots of information, but it can be difficult to know if the information is reliable. Land grant universities like Washington State University can provide a wealth of online information that is both reliable and research-based. Here are two things you can do to make certain the food safety information you find is accurate:

  • Carefully check the source of the information. If you’re using a search engine, follow the search topic with the words “cooperative extension”. You’ll gather information from land-grant universities across the county like WSU.
  • Keep track of where you are on the internet. It’s easy to start at a site with reputable information, and with several clicks, end up at a site with less reputable information.
