CAHNRS Coug Connections: Shelby Ruiz

Each week, we will showcase one of our CAHNRS Ambassadors. Ambassadors is a student leadership organization that encourages students to pursue higher education and serves as a liaison between the college and the greater community. This week, we’re featuring Shelby Ruiz, a junior from Startup, Wash.

Shelby Ruiz

What are you studying?

I’m majoring in Interior Design, with a minor in Construction Management.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am freakishly flexible.

Why WSU?

Initially, to be close to my brother, but it didn’t take long for me to make it my own. I fell in love very quickly.

What is special about being a CAHNRS Coug?

The opportunities made available when you look for them, and the friends I have made that I otherwise would never have met.

Where do you want to be (professionally or personally) 10 years after you graduate?

I want to have started my home project, be well-established into my interior design career, be certified/licensed, and be thinking about a family.

Favorite class you have taken within CAHNRS so far? Why?

HD 205! While I’m not much of a touchy-feely person, I learned so much about myself. And since it was one of my first WSU classes, I feel it really helped me get on my feet.

What other extracurricular activities have you been involved in?

CAHNRS Student Senate and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers)

Favorite Ferdinand’s flavor of ice cream?

Huckleberry ?
