WSU to Host 77th State FFA Convention May 10-12

PULLMAN, Wash. — More than 2,500 Future Farmers of America members, teachers and parents from around the state are expected to attend the 77th Washington State FFA Convention, Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 12.

The theme for this year’s convention is “Branded in Blue.” This year’s keynote speaker is Stuart Joy, past national FFA officer.

Before the final gavel brings the convention to a close, 20 career development events will be decided, six new state officers will be elected and the winners of the organization’s most prestigious honors – the state AgriScience Student Award and the Agri-Entrepreneurship Award will be announced.

About 170 of the state’s 200 FFA programs will be represented on campus, according to Marv Kleene, associate professor of agricultural education and campus coordinator for the convention. Statewide, about 20,000 young people participate in FFA activities.
