PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. – Clea Rome, a resource conservationist and development coordinator for Clallam and Jefferson counties, is the new director for Washington State University Clallam County Extension.
Rome’s selection follows a national search that involved WSU Extension faculty, staff and stakeholders. She begins her new Feb. 1.
“Clea brings an excellent skill set and a fresh perspective to this important Extension position in Clallam County, and we are delighted to have her join the faculty of WSU Extension,” said Randy Baldree, interim associate director of WSU Extension.
Rome earned her bachelor’s in biology at Macalester College in Minnesota in 1996 with a focus on agroecology. She also holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture from University of Michigan with a degree focused on conservation biology and ecosystem management.
For the past three years, Rome has served as the North Olympic Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development Coordinator. Her key projects included a feasibility study for a North Olympic Grain Mill, an EBT project for Farmers Markets and improving access for underserved communities, and co-organizing the Clallam and Jefferson Farm-to-Cafeteria Conference.
From 2004 to 2008, Rome was the conservation planner for Clallam Conservation District.
