WSU Appoints New BioSystems Engineering Chair

PULLMAN, Wash. — Denny C. Davis has been appointed chair of the Washington State University biological systems engineering department.

Davis succeeds Ralph Cavalieri, who recently was appointed director of the university’s Agricultural Research Center.

Davis received his bachelor’s degree from WSU in 1967, then studied at Cornell University where he received a master’s in 1969 and a doctorate in 1973. He was an assistant professor at the University of Georgia for three years, joining the WSU faculty in 1976.

In recent years, Davis played a key role in the development of WSU’s Center for Precision Agriculture. He also has taught several biosystems engineering classes, served as director of the department’s undergraduate program and done research in precision agriculture.
