Wahl Named to China Relations Council Board of Directors

PULLMAN, Wash. ­ Thomas I. Wahl, director of the International Marketing Program for Agricultural Commodities and Trade (IMPACT) Center at Washington State University, has been named to the Washington State China Relations Council Board of Directors.

Wahl’s extensive work with China’s agricultural industry through the IMPACT Center and WSU earned him a seat on the Board of Directors.

He travels frequently in China, working with Chinese counterparts on numerous research projects, including evaluating consumer attitudes towards genetically modified organisms, the tree fruit and wheat industries, agriculture policies and implications for Washington state agricultural exports and horticulture markets in China.

Wahl is also a professor in the WSU School of Economic Sciences where he teaches agricultural and resource economics. His research focuses on international trade policies and new foreign markets for Washington state agricultural products.

The Washington State China Relations Council builds commercial, cultural and academic links between Washington state and the People’s Republic of China.
