Exploring how the fast-evolving digital world is changing our clothing and fashions, Washington State University’s Department of Apparel, Merchandising, Design and Textiles (AMDT) will co-host an international conference, “Fashioning Digital Transformation,” July 15-18, 2019, in Seattle, Wash.

Co-hosted with the Society of Fashion and Textile Industry as part of the 24th International Fashion Invitational Exhibition, the conference invites students, faculty researchers, and industry professionals to share creations and ideas on how digital technology and experiences are inspiring and changing fashion, apparel, and our lifestyle.

Through design presentations, forums, speaker events, and visits to Northwest-based brands and businesses, conference attendees will share knowledge and encourage cultural exchange.

Participants are welcomed to present their designs, posters, and research in creative and functional fashion, textiles, wearable art, new materials, and digital fashion design.

Poster presentation topics include textile design and aesthetics, clothing construction, hygiene and comfort, ergonomics, consumer behavior, the history and social psychology of clothing, and many other areas.

The conference will be held at WSU’s downtown Seattle office, 901 5th Ave., Suite 2900. Application submissions and registrations are due on May 25.

Offering comprehensive four-year programs, WSU’s AMDT department prepares students for success in the fashion, retail, textiles, and apparel industries. Researchers in AMDT study and solve challenges facing global apparel and textile industries.

An academic organization established in 1998, the Society of Fashion & Textile Industry supports research and development for the clothing industries, helping members advance their potential through conferences, journals, overseas training, exhibitions, contests, and field trips.
