Pre-Registration Deadline Jan. 10 for Direct Seed Conference

PULLMAN, Wash. — Growers who register by Jan. 10 can attend the 2001 Northwest Direct Seed Cropping Systems Conference in Spokane for $75. Spouses can register for $35.

The Jan. 17-19 conference is being held at the Doubletree Hotel-City Center in Spokane in conjunction with Spokane Ag Expo and PNW Farm Forum — the largest Inland Northwest Ag Show. The $75 registration fee includes entrance to Ag Expo and Farm Forum, which runs from Jan 16-18.

The conference features 27 speakers, including 14 growers from Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana, North Dakota, Chile, Germany, and Australia, as well as researchers and ag industry representatives from the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Colorado.

Four in-depth focus sessions will look at Northern Great Plains and International Experiences; improving soil quality and productivity; crops, rotations and management strategies; and pest management strategies.

After Jan. 10, registration will go up to $90 and $45 for spouses. For those who cannot attend the entire conference, partial registration options are available through the conference office or on-site at the Doubletree Hotel beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16.

The conference has been organized by the Pacific Northwest STEEP research and educational program and the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association. It is being sponsored by 10 ag companies. It was developed in cooperation with 11 northwest grower organizations, agricultural support groups and government agencies.
