MEDIA ALERT: Franklin County Growers to Tour Wheat Research Facility

Thirty wheat growers from Franklin County will tour Washington State University’s new Plant Growth/Wheat Research Facility from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, and get hands-on laboratory experiences, including extracting DNA from wheat.

They also will learn about progress in research on hybrid wheat, emergence testing, perennial wheat, mosaic virus and improving cold hardiness.

Zuzanna Czuchajowska, cereal chemist, will brief the growers on wheat quality research from 2:45 p.m.-3:35 p.m. in 218 Food Science and Human Nutrition.
