PULLMAN, Wash. — While the event is still months off, the registration deadline for the Washington Junior Lamb Carcass Show is just around the corner: April 4.
The annual show, scheduled July 10-11 at Moses Lake, is an educational event that provides youth with an opportunity to get growth and carcass results from lambs they exhibit and learn how to select fast-gaining lambs that are heavily muscled and properly finished.
Champion and reserve champion awards will be given to the top two exhibits. Rosettes and ribbons plus cash prizes ranging from $10 to $80 will be awarded to the top 40 exhibitors.
Cash prizes also are awarded to judging contest winners and for winning educational displays and posters. Special awards will be presented to winners in each class of Lads and Ladies Lead and the top placing team in the sheep trimming contest.
The event is open to youth in Washington, Oregon and Idaho age 8 through 21 at the time of the show. Lambs must have been born after Jan. 1, 1998. Exhibitors may show up to five market lambs. A non-refundable entry of $5 for each market lamb and $3 for each breeding sheep must accompany the entry form.
