Horse Heaven Research Tour Set for June 7

PULLMAN, Wash. — The annual Horse Heaven Hills Research Field Tour will be from 8:30 a.m. — 1 p.m., Thursday, June 7.

Buses will leave the Horse Heaven Community Hall at 8:45 a.m. The hall is on County Well Road, east of Highway 221, between Prosser and Paterson.

Participants will see field research plots and receive reports on dryland cropping systems, spring wheat breeding, winter wheat breeding and control of Russian thistle.

Four Washington State University scientists will speak. They are Bill Schillinger, agronomist; Kim Kidwell, spring wheat breeder; Steve Jones, winter wheat breeder, and Joe Yenish, extension weed specialist.

Lunch will be served at no cost to participants. The tour is sponsored by the Benton County Wheat Growers Association, WSU Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, and WSU Cooperative Extension. Pesticide recertification credits are available.
