Applications Available for Snohomish County Master Gardener Training

Applications are now available for the 2010 Washington State University Master Gardener Program from WSU Snohomish County Extension.

The program trains volunteers in horticulture, gardening, pest management and related topics, teaching them how to identify and troubleshoot common garden challenges and to offer environmentally responsible solutions. WSU faculty, staff, and local specialists provide the scientifically based training.

In return, the Master Gardener volunteers commit to providing at least 70 hours of volunteer time assisting local Extension personnel in providing information, education, and problem-solving assistance to the community.

The training sessions are scheduled for Thursdays, from 8:30 am to 4 pm, from Jan. 7 to March 21, plus three Saturday sessions. The sessions will be held at WSU Snohomish County Extension, 600 128th Street S.E. in Everett. A $150 fee is charged to cover costs of materials and training.

Applications must be received by Oct. 31, 2009 to be considered. Applications may be downloaded at http://snohomish.wsu.edu/MG/Training/2010MGApplication.pdf or picked up at the WSU Snohomish County Extension office at 600 128th Street S.E. in Everett, 98208.
