Ana Espinola-Arredondo, professor and associate director of the School of Economic Sciences at Washington State University, has been named co-editor of Environmental and Resource Economics, the official journal of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
Founded in 1991, Environmental and Resource Economics provides a forum to explore causes, consequences and policy responses to environmental and economic challenges, from the local scale to the global.
At WSU, Espinola-Arredondo researches environmental economics, game theory, industrial organization, and applied microeconomics.
As co-editor, she will identify research papers that offer meaningful contributions to existing literature. She also ensures research complies with quality standards. Espinola-Arredondo aims to monitor the pulse of new research with potential impacts on environmental regulation and climate change.
“I am very honored to be part of this group and to help increase the visibility of our university,” she said. “Editing new ideas allows me to improve my own research work and to keep my graduate students aware of new trends in environmental economics.”
The ERE editorial board is made up of scholars from both European and non-European countries. Espinola-Arredondo joins U.S. academics from MIT, the University of Chicago, and the University of Minnesota. She is the first from WSU.
Espinola-Arredondo holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Barcelona, and a doctorate in economics from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a co-editor of the journal Economic Inquiry, and is part of the editorial board of PLOS ONE.
