Running a university with as many moving parts as WSU is an enormous challenge, and it would have been easy for Floyd to adopt a remote bearing. Instead he was incredibly accessible. When difficulties arose within the wheat industry, he made the time to hear our concerns and addressed them immediately. We have truly lost a friend.
Dr. Floyd didn’t grandstand and take credit, but he was integral to plotting the positive direction for the wheat industry within the university. It’s sad, but his death provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the significance of his behind the scenes role.
