CAHNRS Update

The focus of this program will be answering questions from you, the audience, about any topics you choose to address.
The program will begin with some remarks from CAHNRS Dean, Dan Bernardo about the CAHNRS benchmarking process and progress in five key areas. Then, he’ll provide an update on the budget situation for CAHNRS, in light of the restrictions on both hiring and spending imposed by Washington’s governor. Then Dean Bernardo, and Associate Dean, Kim Kidwell will be available to answer your questions.

The December edition of “CAHNRS UPDATE” (formerly CAHE UPDATE) will feature Interim Dean Jim Cook, Associate Dean for Extension Linda Fox and Associate Dean for the Agricultural Research Center Ralph Cavalieri. Among the topics to be discussed are:
- An update on the progress on the new strategic directions for CAHNRS;
- Some feedback on issues of concern to our ag commodity constituents across the state;
- An update on the expanding portfolio for Extension across the university;
- An update on the some new WSU/University of Washington partnerships;
- An update on activity at some of our Centers
- A look at some new opportunities for funding and partnerships
- An update some state and federal initiatives
- Updates on a number of issues in the Agricultural Research Center.

This program features an update on the Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources and a discussion about the proposal to establish a School of Natural Resources and the Environment. We also get an update on the proposal for a new name for CAHE and we hear from a member of the CAHE advisory council.
