CAHNRS and WSU Extension

Marketing, News, and Educational Communications

Getting Published

The Marketing, News, and Educational Communications group provides authors in WSU Extension and CAHNRS the ability to publish peer-reviewed, research-based information. We publish materials in agriculture, natural resource sciences, human development, food science and nutrition, 4-H, youth development, and other areas of interest to the citizens of Washington State and beyond. Our publications reflect the diversity of Washington State University’s authors and their expertise as they respond to the needs of the people and industries of the Pacific Northwest. Promotional fliers and our publications sales website at http://pubs.wsu.edu help us spread the word about CAHNRS and WSU Extension publications.

As author, you provide the research-based information, and we provide the expertise in editing, graphic design, and distribution. Our editors assist with readability, organizing and formatting text, polishing grammar, and tailoring writing style to the intended audience. Our graphic designers create the layout using high quality photos and illustrations that you provide. We can distribute your publication to the world online or on paper, including providing electronic files to county Extension offices or WSU Research and Extension Centers for print-on-demand capabilities.

NOTE: The FastTrack Peer Review System does not replace the publications process. FastTrack is for online peer review only. You will still need to complete all of the proper forms for the publications process.

Downloading Forms: Please note that this site requires Firefox, Chrome, Opera or other HTML-compliant browser to download forms. Downloads by older versions of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer are not supported by this site. If you receive an error message while trying to download forms, check your browser compatibility.

Other information

If your publication is relevant for citizens in Oregon and Idaho as well as Washington, you may want to consider publishing through the PNW process. For details about the tri-state cooperative, please visit: PNW Author Brochure

Time Sensitive Materials
Extension professionals must be able to produce and post or print digital materials quickly when emergencies occur or when there are needs to get technical information before the public in a very rapid manner. To expedite this process, MS Word templates have been developed for time-sensitive materials.
